Some or All: Does it Make a Difference?

SOME OR ALL?

The word some is the #FiveMinuteFriday prompt. Some is a simple word but can be paired with other words like – somewhere, somehow, someone, sometime, something, and probably many more. The word some does not include all. That means when we choose one thing, we are not choosing other things.

We may choose some people to be our close friends and others remain acquaintances. Yet, whether close friends, acquaintances, or strangers - we can treat them all with kindness. Every person is created in the image of God and therefore has worth.

Let us not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us work for the good of all, especially for those who belong to the household of faith.
Galatians 6:9-10

We may be tempted sometimes to treat people differently, depending on how they treat us. Jesus tells us to be kind to everyone, including our enemies.

“You have heard that it was said, Love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be children of your Father in heaven. For he causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. Matthew 5:43-45

We are to work for the good of all people, not just some. May God help us to follow these scriptures and spread His love to all we meet.

  3. Love this, Gayl, while we have the freedom to choose "some" people with which to create more intimate friendships, we can treat everyone with kindness.
